How to secure the sports turf in place?
1. Site preparation
Remove existing sod or debris and ensure that the ground is level and well sloped for drainage.
2. Foundation Installation
Lay a 3-4 inch thick layer of crushed stone or gravel, compacted with a compactor, to provide a stable base and good drainage.
3. Weed Control Fabric Installation
Place a layer of weed control fabric over the compacted foundation to prevent weed growth.
4. Laying Artificial Turf
Unroll the artificial turf, make it flat, cut it to the right size and make sure it covers the whole area.
5. Seam treatment
Align the edges of the turf and use seam tape and adhesive at the seams to firmly bond the turf together.
6. Fixing the edges
Secure the edges of the sod using horticultural nails or ground nails at 6-8 inch intervals, driving the nails into the ground so that they are flush with the surface of the sod.
7. Add infill
Spread silica sand or rubber granular infill evenly and brush the turf straight with a stiff bristle brush to ensure even distribution of infill.
8. Final check and adjustment
Check the turf surface for flatness and add more infill if necessary to achieve the desired flatness and firmness.
9. Regular Maintenance
Regularly brush turf fibers straight to maintain even infill distribution, remove debris and keep turf looking neat and performing.
