The shorter the toe, the more elastic it is and the better the synthetic turf fibers are able to withstand trampling and foot traffic.
Therefore longer head heights (approximately 1.5 to 2 inches, or 38 to 50 mm) are suitable for use in low to medium traffic areas.
Shorter pile head heights (approximately 0.5 to 1.25 inches, or 12.7 to 31.75 millimeters) are suitable for high traffic areas.
Touch
Pile head height also affects the feel of fake turf grass. Longer head heights make the fibers softer and fuller, making them more natural and comfortable to touch. Shorter head heights are rougher and are suitable for applications that do not require a high degree of tactility.
Aesthetics
The head height has a significant impact on the aesthetic appearance of false grass. Shorter head heights (up to about 25 mm) give a neat, freshly mowed look and are suitable for commercial premises with a minimalist, modern look.
